Hospital transport

If you are experiencing difficulties travelling to Weston General Hospital, help may be available.

There are a number of ways you can travel to the hospital and you may be able to reclaim your travel costs.

If your condition requires an ambulance car to take you to your first appointment contact your GP who will decide whether to arrange this.

If you are attending a second or subsequent appointment and require an ambulance car contact the clinic which will make arrangements with your consultant.

If travelling by bus from Weston-super-Mare town centre you will need to catch bus service 5, 5A, 5B, 14A, 83, 102, 112 or X2 which stop directly outside the hospital. Bus services 4 and 7 will stop at nearby Loxton Road.

When travelling by train you will need to catch connecting bus service number 112 from Stop Y at Weston-super-Mare train station.

The hospital has parking facilities for bicycles, cars and motorbikes, if you are using private transport.

Most of the community transport operators in the district will take patients to their hospital appointment. Contact your local group for further information.

Some people are entitled to help with travel costs. These include North Somerset residents, their partners and dependent children who receive:

  • Income support
  • Income based job seekers allowance
  • Working families tax credit and those named on a tax credit NHS exemption certificate
  • Disabled persons tax credit and named on a tax credit

Other concessions are also available.
