It is everyone's responsibility to safeguard
children and we all should be aware of the need to listen to and
look out for their safety.
Safeguarding children means protecting
children who are being abused or neglected.
You can help prevent and stop childhood abuse and neglect
through the following:
- Being alert and aware that children can be abused and
neglected
- Contacting services if you are worried about a child
- Investigating and identifying those who abuse or neglect
children
Safeguarding children also means preventing children
from being harmed.
We can all help prevent and stop harm coming to
children through the following:
- Making sure all people who have contact with children can be
trusted
- Keeping play areas and streets safe
- Supporting parents and carers who are having difficulties
- Taking action on missing children
