An independent inspection and report has praised
our Fostering service and Family Link Scheme as
"excellent".
This was the judgement of the 2007 inspection by the
Commission for Social Care
Inspection (CSCI).
It awarded the services the highest attainable score and found
staff and foster care recruitment and vetting procedures to be
"excellent".
The CSCI inspector also found professional consultation services
to be easily available to carers and practitioners and of a "high
standard".

North Somerset Fostering and Family Link Report.
Our Executive Member for Children and Young People, Councillor
Jeremy Blatchford, said: "This independent inspection highlights
the fantastic work we are doing in this area and I congratulate all
those involved in delivering such a high quality service.
"The report covers improvements we have made since the last
inspection and we are already examining areas the inspector has
pinpointed where we can increase our performance."
Our Fostering
service recruits foster carers to care for children living away
from home on a respite, short-term and long-term basis.
Meanwhile, our
Family Link Scheme recruits carers to offer short breaks for
children with disabilities who live at home.
There are 85 foster carers and 16 Family Link carers in North
Somerset.
