The Mentoring service provides mentors for
young people who are looked after by the local
authority.
Our service aims to:
- increase the young person’s self-esteem, confidence and sense
of well being;
- support the young person’s educational aspirations and
achievements;
- nurture the young person’s development of life skills;
- promote resilience and independence.
Mentors do this by:
- getting to know the young person well enough to identify their
unique talents and abilities;
- helping the young person to identify goals and aspirations in
life;
- helping the young person learn how to set objectives and stick
to them ;
- celebrating successes and achievements along the way.
