We can exchange relevant information about
individuals and families between agencies responsible for their
care.
We only do this where it is in the best interests of the
individual and their family.
The organisations we work with include the
police and
Action for children, the children's charity.
We also deal with agencies involved in health, education,
community and leisure, housing and social services.
We work within a legal framework and strict confidentiality
guidelines. In most cases we will ask for the consent of the
individual or family before sharing any information.
The exception to this would be where a child or young person
would be at risk because of a delay, refusal or difficulty in
getting consent.
In these
cases
information would be shared and the reason written and
recorded.
We are required by law to send certain information to central
government about children we provide services for and some of this
information contains personal information, such as date of
birth.
The people with parental responsibility for children included in
the information are given a letter known as a ‘Privacy Notice’.
This Privacy Notice (PN) explains what data
is going to be sent and what central government is going to do
with it. The young people themselves are also given a PN
if they are aged over 12.
If the whereabouts of a child needs to be kept confidential for
their own protection then information will not be shared.
If you have any questions about this process please discuss them
with the relevant organisation.
