The first phase of Weston seafront's
improvements focussed on Marine Lake. The work has
included:
- repairing the causeway
- dredging the lake to remove the large amounts of silt that have
built up
- replacing steps with ramps
- extending the beach
- installing new sluice gates
- resurfacing of the upper promenade at the back of Marine
Lake
- replacing street furniture.
This has improved and enhanced the lake and the area directly
around it. Both residents and visitors will benefit from the
improvements.
The causeway will be fully accessible and will complete the walk
around Knightstone Island and along the promenade.
Work began in August 2007 and was completed in May 2008. Some
additional work will take place over the next few months.
There will be extra exciting activities and entertainment around
Marine Lake and along the promenade during the summer to encourage
visitors to continue to visit local businesses.
With a variety of excellent quality bars, restaurants and hotels
in the vicinity there is definitely a good reason to walk up to the
Marine Lake and you can also watch the work in progress along the
rest of the seafront. |
