Weston-super-Mare is currently hosting its biggest
and most spectacular sand sculpture festival on the beach until 31
August.
The opening weekend (12, 13 July) saw the festival attract an
incredible 7500 visitors.
Local, national and international media have also visited this
unique event, with reports reaching as far afield as Israel and
China.
The team of 14 international sand sculptors spent two weeks
turning 360 tons of Weston sand into an amazing work of art.

The artists will be writing regular blogs on the site during their
stay.
The site will has a special section for kids to have a go at
creating their own sculptures with a little help from North
Somerset Play Forum.
"We are very lucky to be hosting this event yet again, which is
a reflection of the superb sandcastle building qualities of Weston
beach of course," said Cllr Elfan Ap Rees, Deputy Leader.
The event has been generously sponsored and supported by Wookey
Hole, Weston Town Council, The Grand Pier, Avon Fire and Rescue and
Birse, the contractors currently working on the seafront
enhancement scheme.
