An open water diver course is being run at
Churchill Sports Centre on four consecutive Friday evenings
starting on 29 August.
The PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) open
water divers qualification is the most widely recognised and
respected diving certification in the world.
The course has been organised by our leisure service in association
with Weston College. It covers the fundamentals of scuba diving,
including dive equipment and techniques, and provides all the
information required to understand diving and become a safe
diver.
On completion of the course participants will receive a personal
certification card that is recognised in dive centres all over the
world.
The course runs from 6.45pm to 10.15pm on four consecutive
Fridays from 29 August to 19 September. It will be followed by two
open water day dives on Sundays, 21 and 28 September.
The course costs £280 plus £25 for the medical certificate. It
is open to anyone over 14 who is confident in the water and has the
ability to swim 200 metres and tread water for 10 minutes.
