Have you ever wanted to find out more about local
history but not known where to start?
Then the North Somerset Studies Library is just the place to
go!
The library, based on the upper floor of the
main
library in the Boulevard, Weston-super-Mare, is holding an open
day to promote the resources and services that are available to the
public.
At the open day you can learn about people and places in North
Somerset. You could take a trip back to 1836 and see places in
North Somerset through the eyes of visiting Birmingham manufacturer
Mr T Clark. Trace his journey and bring the story to life by
looking at documents from the time including maps, illustrations,
newspapers and street directories.
You could also look at archive treasures from the North Somerset
collections which will be on display during the day.
Library staff will be on hand to talk about facilities to
research local and family history in North Somerset libraries and
assist with local history research methods.
The event will be held on Saturday, 12 November from 10am -
3pm.
Admission is free and people are invited to just turn up on the
day.
