Pupils can learn, in an exciting environment,
about the history of the landscape, wildlife and people of the
local area at North Somerset Museum.
School groups are welcome but need to book in advance at a cost
of £1.65 per child for pre-booked groups.
Adult helpers are admitted for free and we also offer a free
preliminary visit for teachers.
The maximum group size is 90 pupils with one adult for every
five children.
We have a meeting or education room where pupils can eat packed
lunches in groups of up to 35.
They can also leave their bags and coats there safely while in
the galleries.
Use of this room, which is on the first floor accessed only by
stairs, is free to groups but must be reserved when booking a
visit.
We have a range of packs containing original and facsimile
sheets for Key Stages 1 and 2, which can be used by booked
parties.
They cover:
- Britain in the 1940s and 1950s
- In the Home
- Reading, Writing and Arithmetic
- Seaside Holidays
- The Romans
- The Victorians
- Toys, Hobbies and Games
There is a charge of £5 per pack, and they can be requested when
you book.

We run a reading area and hands-on activities in Clara's Corner
and a Seaside Gallery, which is funded by the
Museums, Libraries and
Archives (MLA) South West Learning Links project.

We have also teamed up with the
libraries service to offer
pre-school loan boxes. These are for groups to borrow and include
lots of items to learn about different subjects. Further

You can also borrow a reminiscence loan box for senior citizens,
which is like a time capsuals from the past. Further information

To book any of the loan boxes, contact your local
library.
We run guided walks and talks on Worlebury Hillfort and Weston
Woods exploring the human and natural history of Weston's
hillside.
Other subjects may be covered by arrangement with further
information available from our
Research Assistant.
Files of documents, ephemera and photographs relating to the
history of North Somerset can also be researched by
appointment.
This service is available to a a maximum of two people at a time
with further information available from our
