People's Collections An ongoing programme
of exhibitions of local people's collections which are usually
displayed in the museum courtyard for eight weeks.

The Grand Pier Fire Exhibition A special
exhibition, created in partnership with the Grand Pier, on the
devastating fire of 28 July and its impact.
Items from the site are on show, including a dodgem car,
original iron pillar, coins, trophies and tools, as well as film of
the fire and an eye witness account.
The displays will develop and change as more material is
salvaged.
Peggy Nisbet dolls: Kings and Queens series
Until June 2009 For the fifth year running we are
hosting a special display of Peggy Nisbet dolls from collector
Christine Poulten.
This year's theme is the ever-popular Kings and Queens series of
dolls - from King Alfred to Queen Elizabeth II.
Around the World in Playful Ways
27 October - 31 October 2008 A week of hands-on
cultural activities from around the world for the half-term
holiday.
Tuesday - Japanese Koi
Windsocks Thought to bring good luck as they swim in the
wind
Wednesday - African Masks Used in
African dances to ward off evil spirits
Thursday - Around the World in Different
Ways Create your own board game and travel around the
world
Friday - Puppets from India Make
your own sparkly, shiny dancing puppet
All activities free. No booking necessary.
Activities run 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm.
Suitable for children aged 7 years and above. Younger children may
join in with adult help.
Apple Week
1 November - 8 November 2008 A week celebrating that
local speciality - the apple.
All week Display of apple
varieties from Thatchers of Sandford.
Apple mill to press your apples into juice.
Speciality chutneys produced only from local fruit
for you to try and buy.
Saturday 1 November
Apple identification by Robin and June Small of Charlton
Orchards, Creech St Michael.
11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm.
Maximum of three varieties per person.
Cheese tasting some of the cheeses produced
locally by Alvis Brothers of Redhill.
Art for the Future 2008
8 November 2008 - 10 January 2009 The annual
exhibition of art featuring the amazing talents of North Somerset's
secondary school pupils.
Archaeology for the People
19 November 2008
Renowned local expert Vince Russett explores the wealth of
archaeology in the area and how to get to grips with it.
Organised by the Friends of the Museum.
