Library FAQs about DVDs and music

Can I have my CD or DVD for longer?

Yes, if no one has requested them then you will pay the extra hire charges when you return them.

Can you get DVDs and CDs from other libraries for me?

Yes, if it is in stock in LibrariesWest. There is an exception for DVDs while they are in the Premium collection and CDs for three months immediately after its release date.

How can I reserve the DVD or CD?

If you have your library card number and PIN you can use the LibrariesWest website. Alternatively contact your local library. Be aware that CDs can't be loaned until three months after their release. Reservations on premium DVDs wont be satisfied until the DVD becomes standard. You also need to be older than the age classification of the DVD you want to borrow.

How do I find out if you have a particular DVD?

You can search our catalogue online at LibrariesWest by author, title, or a keyword. You can also use ADVANCED SEARCH and choose the SECTION for Video and DVD's. We are happy to help you search so please ask.

Have you got a CD with a particular track or piece of music on?

Our Enquiry Centre can help you find out which CDs to look for which include a certain track or piece of music.

Do you have music scores for loan?

Scores are listed on our catalogue. Music societies can request sets.

Do you have Grove Dictionary of music?
