Anyone
hiring DVDs
from our libraries must be of a suitable age for the film they
have chosen.
The
British Board of Film
Classification (BBFC) classifies films and DVDs using
an age rating scheme. We will ask you to prove
your age if we believe you are younger than the age
rating on the DVD you have chosen.
The categories of
the classification scheme are:
E
Exempt. Usually
factual DVDs, music, educational, or sport.
U
Universal.
Suitable for all.
PG Parental Guidance.
General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young
children.
12 Suitable
for 12 years and over. No one younger than 12 may rent a 12
rated DVD. Responsibility for allowing under 12s to view lies with
the accompanying or supervising adult.
15
Suitable for 15 years and over. No one younger than 15 may rent a
15 rated DVD.
18
Suitable only for adults. No one younger than 18 may rent an
18 rated DVD.
