We aim to make our libraries,
stock and services accessible to people with a
disability.
Most of our library
buildings are accessible for people with a physical
disability and our two mobile libraries have
wheelchair lifts.
Portishead
Library has a ramp at the front of the building and
level access to the rear.
The children's library at
Nailsea
Library is on the
lower floor and can only be
accessed by stairs. Staff
at Nailsea library will be happy
to bring any books or DVDs from the children's library to the main
floor for you.
There is
a step into Backwell
Library. Staff will be happy
to bring any books, CDs and DVDs to
you.
We have hearing induction loops in all of our
libraries and Weston
Library has a minicom machine available for hearing
impaired phone users.
If you are housebound, some of our libraries have volunteers who
can deliver items to your door.
We stock books in large print and on talking cassette and CD. You
can reserve and borrow these free of charge if you have a visual
impairment.
If a health professional signs our form to confirm you are
registered blind or partially-sighted we can get books in other
formats for you.
Weston
Library has easy-to-use magnifiers for enlarging print and
objects.
All library computers have SuperNova software, which allows
screen text to be enlarged and colours changed.
One PC in each of our libraries is placed on an adjustable desk
and has a trackerball and large keyboard.
We also offer a range of
online services so
you can access the library from your home. You can:
