We run a range of swimming teacher courses
for people in North Somerset.
They are offered by the Amateur Swimming Association
(ASA) and are open to teachers and other adults.
The course allows you to become a fully-qualified swimming
teacher.
All our courses are run at
Churchill Sports Centre and include:
ASA/UKCC Level I Certificate in Teaching
Aquatics - This is
the first step towards becoming a swimming teacher and is designed
to introduce candidates to the basic principles of teaching. Once
qualified, the holder will be able to help teach a limited range of
basic skills under the supervision of a qualified UKCC
Teacher/Coach. The ASA/UKCC qualifications have replaced the ASA
Swimming Teacher qualifications. Cost:
£340 or £250 concession for those receiving certain benefits. The
price includes the assessment fee.

ASA/UKCC Level II Certificate in Teaching
Aquatics - This is
the industry standard for those who wish to teach unsupervised and
is essential for seeking employment as a swimming teacher. Once
qualified, the holder will be able to teach groups a range of
abilities using the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming (or
equivalent). Entrants must have their ASA Level I
certificate.
Cost: £525 or £375 for concessions including an
assessment fee cost

ASA National Curriculum Training Programme for teachers
- Open to primary school teachers covering the technical
side of swimming, teaching beginners, health and safety in the pool
and national swimming teaching plans.
