In association with the West of England Sports Trust,
South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset and Bristol
City Councils, we have adopted CoachWest, a coach database designed
around the needs of the coach and allowing them to have control
over their information whilst accessing a number of
benefits.
So is CoachWest of use to you?
- Do you want to develop your skills as a sports coach?
- Do you enjoy helping others to improve their performance and
their levels of fitness?
- Are you considering a career in coaching?
- Have you got the desire and commitment to be the best coach you
can be?
- Do you want to pass on your coaching skills to other
coaches?
If your answer is yes to any of the above, CoachWest will
support you with your ambitions.
The benefits of registering as a coach include:-
- Access to paid employment and voluntary opportunities.
- Access to coach education courses.
- Access to funding to assist with training.
- An electronic CV which can be updated at any time.
- A full record of your coaching history complete with
feedback.
- A record of how many people you have coached.
- A coaching development newsletter.
The following criteria are a recommended minimum standard that a
coach should hold in order to coach on their own in a lead coach
capacity.
- National Governing Body Level 2 Coaching Award. There are
certain sports which will allow level 1 coaches to operate on their
own with certain level groups - in this instance the coach
should provide proof of this from their national governing
body.
- Insurance. Minimum £5 million public liability
insurance.
- Enhanced CRB check
- Minimum 18 years of age
These minimum standards have been established by the West of
England Coaching Systems Support Network Group. Guidance has
been taken from Sport Coach UK's consultation on minimum standards
for deployment undertaken in July 2010.
