We are responsible for managing and monitoring any
unauthorised camping which occurs on any land we own within North
Somerset..
Unauthorised camping occurs when people camp on a piece of
land which they do not own and are present without the permission
of the landowner.
We have the power to remove anyone camped illegally on
public land.
If it occurs on privately-owned land it is the
responsibility of the landowner to take legal action to remove any
trespassers.
However, we can provide free advice to regarding the law of
trespass and how to regain possession of the land.
If you have a complaint regarding criminal activity, a breach of
the peace or anti-social behaviour in connection with an
unauthorised encampment please contact the police.
The police also have the power to remove an unauthorised
encampment if it is over a certain size.
