We have a proactive inspection programme to
visit Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) across North
Somerset.
This work involves identifying HMOs which are required to join
the mandatory and additional licensing schemes we
operated.
These properties are then monitored and inspected on
a regular basis to ensure good housing standards are
maintained.
We also operate a registration scheme for self-contained flats
which are also regularly monitored and inspected.
The private rented sector within this area falls short
at 38% of the 70% decency levels required by 2010.
We need to identify those properties which do not currently meet
standard to ensure this target can be met.
