We are responsible for ensuring all caravan sites are
licensed with North Somerset.
Under the law, licences are required if any land is to be used
as a caravan site including touring, holiday and residential
sites.
This is on top of the planning permission
needed when setting up a caravan site.
They grant permission for a piece of land to be used
as a caravan site with conditions covering
the minimum amenity and fire protection standards laid out
under the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act.
Caravan site licences do not have an expiry date but a new one
will be needed if land ownership changes.
Under this legislation it is an offence not to have a
licence or to be in breach of any of its conditions.
However, we do not have any powers to resolve disputes in
connection with conditions laid out in any written agreements
between site owners and a site's residents.
For further information on your rights as a resident of a
caravan or park home please
