A special open day has been organised to help
residents understand more about what affordable housing is and how
they might take advantage of it.
Thanks to additional funding from the housing stock transfer and
the Housing Corporation, the council is going through its largest
programme of building affordable housing for many years.
The event, aimed at raising awareness of affordable housing,
takes place at at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare on
Wednesday, 21 May from 3pm to 7pm.
Call in to see what is available for first-time buyers and those
on low incomes. You will be able to talk to experts in the field
about subjects from private and social rented accommodation to the
many types of shared ownership schemes that exist.
Contributors will include representatives from North Somerset
Council, housing benefit officers, registered social landlords
(housing associations), developers and mortgage advisors. The event
is being sponsored by English Rural Housing Association, Aster
Group, Sarsen Housing Association, Hanover, Raglan Housing
Association, Knightstone Housing Association, Redland Housing
Association, NSHousing and Guinness Hermitage.
This year alone will see the provision of 200 affordable homes.
£3.6 million of government funding will contribute to the costs
associated with 81 of these affordable housing developments.
Everyone is welcome.
