If there are people over the age of 18 living with you
in your home you may receive less benefit.
These people are referred to as non-dependents and include your
adult children, relatives or friends.
An amount may be taken out of your housing or council tax benefit
because of this and will depend on your own and their
circumstances.
However, boarders, sub-tenants and joint tenants are not classed as
non-dependents.
