Applying for housing using HomeChoice

If you are applying for housing or are already on the housing register the HomeChoice scheme gives you more choice and control over where you live.

Once we receive your application we will be able to assess your housing need, and you'll be put into one of four bands (A-D). There is also an emergency priority band for people in urgent need.

Available properties

To see available properties or for more information about the scheme visit the HomeChoice website.

Bidding for properties

We'll advertise vacant properties, and if you see one you like which is the right size for your household, you can put your name forward online, over the phone or in person.

You will need a local connection to apply and details of this are on the HomeChoice website. You may not be eligible to join the housing register if you: are subject to immigration controls under the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and do not have refugee status; have exceptional leave to stay in the UK or indefinite leave to remain in the UK; or a member of your household has been guilty of unacceptable behaviour serious enough to make you an unsuitable tenant.

Getting help

Staff in your local housing office or your support worker, if you have one, will be able to help you.
