In February 2006 we transferred our housing
stock to
Alliance
Homes (formerly NSHousing), following a large scale
voluntary transfer (LSVT).
Although we no longer have any housing stock, we work with our
housing association partners to develop new affordable homes for
social rent and low cost home ownership.
New affordable homes will be provided on all new housing
developments of 15 dwellings or more, or on a residential site with
a gross area of at least 0.5ha.
For more information on the different schemes available go to
our Intermediate
Housing information.
The council’s definition of affordable housing, on the basis of
Planning Policy Statement 3, is:
- Social Rented: Rented housing owned and
managed by local authorities and registered social landlords, for
which guideline target rents are determined through the national
rent regime. It may also include rented housing owned or managed by
other persons provided under equivalent rental arrangements to the
above, as agreed with the Homes and Community Agency as a condition
of grant.
- Intermediate Housing: Housing at prices and
rents above those of social rent, but below market prices or
rents, and which remain at an affordable price for future eligible
households, or if these restrictions are lifted for the subsidy to
be recycled for alternative affordable housing
provision.
