A tenancy is an agreement between a landlord
and tenant where in return for rent a tenant can live in the
landlord's property as their home.
The majority of private rented properties let by private
landlords are assured or shorthold tenancies.
These are governed by
the
Housing Act 1988 and apply to all tenancies signed after
15 January 1989.
