Disabled facilities grants are available for Disabled
people or those who live with a disabled person.
Funding is available up to a maximum of £30,000 to pay for
adaptations which give increased movement within
a home and to the essential facilities it contains.
Grants are available for all types of residential property
including mobile homes and caravans.
However, the proposed works must be necessary and appropriate to
meet a Disabled person's needs.
They must also be reasonable and practicable depending on the
age and condition of the property.
We will advise you on these issues but we can refuse a
grant if we believe the work involved is not
practicable.
Your eligibility will depend on your needs and a financial
accessment will be undertaken to confirm how much grant aid
you can receive.
We will arrange a visit, possibly with an occupational
therapist, to assess your needs and discuss the practical issues of
carrying out any works.
We will identify what can be provided under the grant but
you should be aware that they are means tested and you may have to
contribute towards the costs of works.
However, If the grant is for a disabled child or young person
under 19 years of age there is no means test.
