We are responsible for maintaining and protecting trees
and hedges across North Somerset.
This includes publicly owned and privately owned trees and
woodlands.
There are differences in how we manage trees depending on who
owns them and where they are situated.
For more information about conservation areas visit our
trees in
conservation areas page.
For publicly owned trees and woodlands we have a duty to manage
them safely as well as ensuring they contribute positively to the
environment. We do this according to our
Tree Risk Management Plan.
For privately owned trees and woodlands we have a duty to
protect them to ensure they contribute positively to the
environment. For information about protected trees visit our
tree preservation
orders and
trees on
development sites pages.
We are launching the North Somerset
tree warden
volunteer network, and are recruiting now.
We also deal with the management,
conservation and protection
of hedges including high hedges. For more information visit
our hedgerows
page.
