National Grid proposals

National Grid is proposing the construction of a new electric transmission line between Bridgwater and Avonmouth.

Consultation Stage 1 on route corridor options, which is where the line will go, closed to the public on 23 July 2010.

A second stage of public consultation on the preferred route corridor will take place before an application is submitted to the successor of the Infrastructure Planning Commission in 2012.

We are not a consultee and will not be the authority that makes the final decision for these proposals.

Our  response to Consultation Stage 1 was agreed by the Planning and Regulatory Committee on 21 July 2010

We are represented on the Hinkley C Connection Group, which is a group of councillors and agencies set up  to receive information and consider the impact of the proposals.

For more information about the group you can download minutes, papers and presentations from its meetings below.
