Trees in Conservation Areas consent

You must apply for our consent if you wish to lop, top, fell or up-root a tree within a Conservation Area in North Somerset.

These trees are generally treated in the same way as if they were protected by a tree preservation order (TPO).

Therefore, you must apply for permission to carry out any works on trees in these areas.

You must give us at least six weeks written notice before carrying out such works.

However, there are certain exceptions, where a tree is dead or in a dangerous condition, but you should always seek our advice to make sure your proposed works are acceptable.

For more information visit the planning portal website or contact our Development Management  team.
