Fees are payable for work undertaken by our
Building Control Team in relation to Building Regulation
applications.
Fees are statutory and are paid in two stages:
- The plan fee is payable when an application for Building
Regulation approval is made to the Building Control Office
- The inspection fee is payable when the work starts on site and
all inspections are covered by the one payment
If you choose to apply using a Building Notice the combined plan
fee and inspection fee must be submitted with your application
form.
Building Notices may not be submitted for buildings which will
front the road, are to be erected over a sewer or drain or will be
certified under the Fire Precautions Act 1971 when the works have
finished.
Our fees are set annually from April 1 in line with
neighbouring
councils and designed to cover the costs of providing our
services.
If the work is solely for the benefit of a disabled person then
fees may in some cases not be charged.
If costs are incurred by us when dealing with dangerous
buildings and structures those, where possible, will be recharged
to the owner.
You can get an idea of how much you can expect to pay using our
cost calculator.
