The purpose of an Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty (AONB) is to protect and enhance the
landscape.
They are designated by the
Countryside Agency and
primarily used to conserve the native animals, plants and geology
precious to an area.
Therefore, an
AONB is exactly what it says it
is - an outstanding landscape whose distinctive character and
natural beauty needs to be safeguarded for the nation.
All AONBs within North Somerset are shown in our
Replacement
Local Plan.
There are tighter than normal controls over the kinds of
development which can take place in an
AONB.
As a result, it is advisable to contact
Development
Control on 01275 888 811 about any specific
proposals. |
