New advice
service
From 1 April we are launching a new pre-application advice service.
This new service will deliver improvements in the consistency and
timeliness of the advice we give to developers prior to the
submission of planning applications.
In order to achieve these improvements we are introducing new
fees. You can download an
advice note which explains these charges and
the service we provide.
The planning system and applications help decide what is built
within North Somerset.
Good planning ensures the right things are built in the right
place without causing harm to the environment or people.
If you have a development proposal that could have a significant
business, employment or commercial element, contact our
Economic Development team. Also visit
innorthsomerset our
business focussed website for North Somerset. Here you can access
business information, submit news items, events and enquiries.
You
can search for planning applications using our
online applications search facility.
To find planning
application details for a specific area of North Somerset you can
use our planning
map.
If you want to
build or make certain changes to a property, change land or
building use or carry out works to your land then you may need
planning
permission.
To submit an
online planning application please use the national
planning portal website, where you can find the
application forms and a wealth of additional
guidance. Alternatively, you can also download and
print a planning
application form, which can be submitted via the postal
system.
We
will not accept applications unless we receive
the relevant information with further details available
on our Validation
Checklist page.
All our decisions
are based on planning regulations and policies and made
by our officers or councillors on
our planning
committees.
Our services are
assessed against the Government's
Best Value
Performance Indicators (BVPI) standards with further details
available via our Performance
page.
For further
information about planning visit the
Communities and Local
Government (CLG) website or
Planning Portal.
We run several
consultations each year to involve local people in our plans
for the long term development of North Somerset. You can
register to take part in our
Local
Development Framework consultations online.
For further
information about local policies which affect planning across the
district please visit our
