Standard Assessment Procedure for assessing the energy performance
of dwellings.
The method can be used to:
- Calculate carbon emissions for new
dwellings. This forms the basis for checking that new
dwellings comply with the Building Regulations requirements for
conservation of fuel and power
- Allow greater design flexibility for building
work. For example to allow a greater amount of glazing in
extensions by offsetting against other energy compensating
measures
- Produce an Energy Performance Certificate for
new dwellings
