Over ½ a million tonnes of junk mail is generated in the UK every year, this is the equivalent of nearly 8 and a half million trees.
Although much of the direct mail you receive is useful, a lot of it is unwanted and will probably end up as rubbish in your bin. Of course you can recycle this paper, but it is better to prevent the mail being generated in the first place, which will also save resources and energy.
Reduce the amount of unwanted direct mail you receive by registering your details with the Mailing Preferences Service (MPS). This service is free of charge and will remove your name from up to 95% of direct mail lists in the UK. Registrations are on an individual full name (forename & surname) basis.
Please note it can take up to 4 months for the service to be fully effective.
