The amount of waste we each
produce has been rising each year as the number of people and
households across North Somerset continues to
increase.
This means we generate more and more waste each year with the
district one of the highest per person waste producers in the
UK.
New laws and tougher Government and European recycling targets mean
our waste costs will soar unless we change the way we collect and
treat our rubbish.
We need to improve our services as doing nothing will hit us
financially and environmentally in the years to come.
Therefore we have developed the
North Somerset Municipal Waste
Strategy in order to achieve these aims and goals.
We are part of
the West of England
Partnership which enables us to share ideas and develop
joint strategies for a range of social, economic and
environmental issues, including waste.
Please see the
rubbish or
resource website for more information relating to the
joint waste strategy.
