How is waste recycled?

Everything you put into your green box or take to a recycling bank or centre in North Somerset will be put to good use.

Clothes and textiles are either sold on through charity shops or sent to developing countries to be used again while those not suitable to reuse are used for fillings and cloths.

Paper you provide is made into pulp and turned back into the material which our national and regional newspapers are printed on. This whole process can take as little as six weeks.

Glass you give is used to make new jars and bottles or used for road building and construction as a replacement for newly quarried sand and gravel.

Old food tins are melted down and turned into car parts, fridges and new cans.

While the same fate befalls your old drinks cans which are eventually rolled into thin sheets and turned back into new cans by manufacturers all over Europe

All your green waste is chipped and shredded and used as a soil enricher on farms.

Cardboard is used to make more boxes and packaging, stationery, animal bedding and even coffins.
