Your green bag collection takes place fortnightly
on the same day as your regular rubbish collection and allows you
to recycle green garden waste and plain corrugated
cardboard.
You can only use the bags we provide from our
outlets.
Put your waste loosely and directly into your green garden waste
bag removing as much soil as possible from any plants.
You can use the scheme to recycle the following materials:
- Grass cuttings and prunings
- Plants, flowers, leaves and weeds
- Hedge and conifer clippings
- Twigs and tree branches of a maximum 10cm (4.5") diameter
- Plain corrugated cardboard which must be flattened with all
plastic tape removed
- Toilet and kitchen roll inners and egg boxes
All branches and twigs should be trimmed down so they do not
stick out of the bag. We will not collect thick branches or tree
stumps, these should be taken to one of our
Recycling
Centres.
We will not take away bags containing any of the following
materials:
- paper or printed cardboard such as cereal boxes
- soil
- plastic flower pots, trays, bags or any plastic
- concrete, rubble, bricks or stones
- painted or treated wood
- coal ash
- food scraps
- nappies
- general rubbish including glass and metal
- vegetable and fruit peelings
- tea bags, egg shells
- coffee grounds.
Please leave something to weigh your bag down, for example, a
stone or your recycling box, to prevent your bag from blowing away
after it is emptied.
Please be aware we will not collect green waste in bin bags or
plastic bags or those bags weighing more than 20kg (three stone),
if you cannot lift it then our collection crews will not be able to
either.
An assisted collection service for elderly and disabled
householders is available upon request from
Streets and Open Spaces. |
