Aerosols - Aerosols are not currently
recycled in North Somerset, please put them in your general refuse.
Do not squash or pierce the cans, even when empty, as they may
explode. You may wish to consider purchasing pump
action or refillable sprays instead of aerosols.
Aluminium - Cans, foil, sweet tins and
foil, take-away containers can all be placed in your
green
box or taken to your nearest
recycling bank or Recycling
Centre. Where possible use reuseable containers, paper bags or
greaseproof paper rather than foil - particularly for sandwiches or
lunches. All foil must be cleaned before recycling.
Top-tip - Wash and squash cans first to
save space in your geen box.
Antifreeze - Why not donate to a friend
or neighbour or ask your local garage if they can reuse it? If not
you can dispose of it in the hazardous waste cages at one of our
Recycling
Centres.
Asbestos - There are three types - white,
brown and blue. You should contact a commercial contractor to
dispose of asbestos as they will have a licence to dispose of it
correctly. Do not try and deal with asbestos yourself as it is
highly dangerous.
Ash - Wood ash can be recycled by
composting
it and reusing it on your garden. If you do not have a
compost
bin we sell them at a discount for less than the RRP, we
include free delivery and a free kitchen caddy in the
price.
