We provide a green garden waste collection service from
the kerbside of your property.
How often is my green
garden waste collected?
Green garden waste is collected fortnightly throughout the year,
and monthly during December, January and February. Find out your
collection dates online. Please leave your
green bag on the edge of your property nearest the road by 7am on
your day of collection.
How do you collect my green garden
waste?
We collect your green garden waste from green bags. You must
only use the branded North Somerset green bags that we
supply or that you have bought from an approved retailer.
What materials can I put in my
bag?
Read our
what
can be recycled FAQs for more information.
I've just moved in and don't have a
bag, where can I get one?
If you're a new resident, you can
request a green bag online.
Is there a limit to the number
of green bags I can put out for collection?
No, there is no limit to the number of bags you can leave out
for collection providing they are filled with the correct materials
and each bag weighs no more than 20KG.
My bags haven't been returned or are
damaged, can I have another one?
Yes, we will replace damaged bags for free. You can
report that your green bag is missing or damaged online. You'll
need to place the damaged bags outside your property for our crews
to collect and you'll receive a replacement within 10 working days.
We do ask you to provide something to keep the bags secure when we
return them, like a stone or your recycling box.
What if my bag is lost
or stolen?
We will replace lost or stolen bags free of
charge once, you can
request a replacement bag online. Crews will then deliver
the replacement bag to your property within 10 working days.
My green garden waste hasn't been
collected, will you come back for it?
If you think your bag should've been collected but it wasn't,
your can
report a missed collection online, with 48 hours of your
collection being due. We will then come back and collect it.
Will I be told why my bag wasn't
collected?
Crews leave a tag on any bag that couldn't be collected to
explain why. For example, it contained the wrong materials or was
too heavy. If a tag has been left on the bag you are expected to
re-sort your material and put out your bag at your next
collection.
I'm elderly or disabled and
struggle to put my green bag out for collection, can I get
help?
Yes, we can arrange for you to have an
assisted collection.
How much do the bags
hold?
The bags have a 120-litre capacity, measure 60cm x 45cm x
45cm and can be folded and easily stored when not in use.
Why can’t you take
food waste and green garden waste
together?
Green garden waste can be composted without any further
treatment. Food waste needs to be treated differently due to
the 2005 Animal By-Products Regulations.
I have a lot of green
garden waste, is there somewhere I can take it?
Yes, you can deposit green garden waste at any of
our
recycling centres.
What happens to my
green garden waste once it has been
collected?
All of your green waste is collected together and shredded at our

to a composting site at Wingmoor near Cheltenham where it is turned
into a soil enhancer.
