We are required to measure the population, land uses and
other matters which affect planning policy within North
Somerset.
This includes collecting various forms of information and
holding and analysing local Census data.
The Census is a count of all the people and households
in England and Wales which takes place every 10
years. The last
Census took place on 27 March 2011, the initial results will be
published by the Office for National Statistics in July 2012.
The most current data available is from the 2001 Census.
We use it to provide statistical information which was for
planning and funding public services such as education, health and
transport.
We also produce an
Annual Monitoring Report for the district which assesses the
progress made by our various planning policy documents and the
Local
Development Framework.
