A series of 'planning together' workshops and exhibitions began
in April 2008 to actively involve stakeholders and the local
community in developing the area into a new community.
First Workshops - April 2008
The
workshops
report by Planning Together Associates gives
details of the first group of workshops which was held
over four days in April 2008 . A wide range
of
groups and organisations participated
and presentations were given on the
following:
The workshops allowed a joint understanding of the issues, hopes
and fears surrounding this large and complex
development.
This provided a good basis for North Somerset Council
appointed consultants Broadway Malyon to commence master
planning work. This is looking in more detail at where
the homes, businesses, necessary services and
facilities can be located and how the linkages can be made
both internally and to other communities in Bristol and the
surrounding villages.
A
local newsletter was produced in September 2008
with the latest updates.
Update Workshop - November 2008
A planning together workshop update was held on 26 November
2008. The
summary report gives details of the
day. Presentations were given on the following themes as they
all potentially influence the shape and nature of the new
community .
Next steps
Broadway Malyon are in the final stages of developing
a draft master plan for the area, which will inform the Core
Strategy and the South West Bristol Urban Extension Supplementary
Planning document. Further information can be found in the
North Somerset Draft Local Development Scheme
2008.
An
'introduction to the project' gives an
outline of Broadway Malyons work to date.
