We are responsible for the maintenance of beach and
seafront areas across North Somerset.
These include kiosks, stalls and the areas used by donkeys on
Weston-super-Mare beach.
Weston’s beaches are cleaned every day except Christmas Day while
other beaches in the district are cleaned on a regular basis.
Mechanical plant and hand litter pickers remove hundreds of tonnes
of litter each year from these sites.
And as a result Weston beach has won a seaside award for
cleanliness, safety and water quality for the past nine
years.
Dogs are welcome all year round on the beach at:
- Sand Bay
- between the Grand Pier and Knightstone Island,
Weston
- from Royal Sands, Weston to Uphill.
Between 1 May and 30 September there is a ban on dog walking
between the Grand Pier and Royal Sands, Weston. The beach at Marine
Lake in Weston and Clevedon is a dog free area all
year round. Guide dogs are exempt from these
rules. For a copy of a map of the areas visit
our dog
control order maps page.
All public access land in North Somerset is a poop-scoop
area, including the beaches.
Horse
riding is banned on the main beach at Weston from 1
July until 31 August, between 10am and 6pm.
