There are 13 Local Nature Reserves in North
Somerset for you to visit and enjoy.
The sites are usually open to the public and we actively
encourage visits by schools and colleges for educational
purposes.
We also work closely with
Natural England, local
interest groups
and town
and parish councils to manage these sites.
We provide one hectare of local nature reserve per 704 head
of population, which
exceeds Natural England's
recommendation of one hectare per 1000 head of population. We are
trying to increase this amount to continue to improve our natural
environment in North Somerset.
You can find information on these reserves and those in the
surrounding region on
the Wild Spaces
website.
