We run a motor salvage operators register for North
Somerset.
This does not include
scrap metal dealers.
Any business which deals with scrapped vehicles which are no
longer roadworthy must be on the register.
It is renewed every three years. For details of how much it
costs to be added to the register visit our
fees and charges page.
The salvage operator has the responsibility to keep accurate
records of each car they deal with including the registration mark,
identification number, make, model and colour.
They must also take contact details for the person who supplied
the vehicle and keep a copy of proof of their identification.
The police are
responsible for enforcement of these regulations.
