We monitor some forms of possible pollution in North
Somerset and can give advice about others.
For example, we monitor, review and assess
emissions,
air pollution and quality.
This includes emissions from industrial premises, traffic on local
roads and motorways and those from air handling units such
as air-conditioning and venitlation systems.
We are also responsible for identifying
contaminated land in the area, and testing private
water
supplies to ensure they are safe.
We investigate complaints about excessive
noise
and can take action if it is a nuisance.
We can also provide advice and help about
asbestos
if you find it in your property, and
electro-magnetic radiation
(EMR) if companies wish to site sources near your home.
