If you find asbestos on your property, we will provide
you with free advice on how to deal with it.
Asbestos is a natural material, that was used as a building
material during the 1960's, 70's and 80's. Due to its heat
resistant properties it was particularly useful as a means of
providing fire protection.
As long as Asbestos is in good condition and is not going to be
disturbed or damaged, there is no risk. It becomes dangerous if it
is disturbed or damaged as fibres can be released into the air and
inhaled.
Unfortunately we are not able remove
asbestos from your home, so you will need to contact a licensed
asbestos removal contractor to carry out the work for you. You can
find licensed contractors in directories such as
Yellow Pages or on the
HSE website.
We don't provide an asbestos analysis service, however should
you require this service please contact
Somerset Scientific Service.
If you are concerned about the presence of asbestos in a commercial
property or in a building set for demolition then you should
contact the Health and Safety Executive
(HSE)
