Whenever livestock animals are moved around or into
North Somerset it must be recorded by law.
The movement of any cattle, sheep, pigs or deer must
be noted and recorded on the Department for Environment, Food
and Rural Affair’s (DEFRA) central AMLS database.
Once the animals have arrived at their destination an AML1 form
must be sent to us within three days to notify us of movements
involving sheep and goats or an AML2 form for pigs.
We can send both forms out to you on request and can also provide
free livestock movement books which record their veterinary,
medicine and breeding records.
Once animals have been moved they cannot be moved again for a
set period of six days for cattle, sheep and goats and 20 days
for pigs.
