There are various efficiency projects that we are
involved with. We offer general procurement advice and good
practice for a variety of areas.
We are responsible for ensuring:
- Efficiency improvements can be delivered to schools.
- Schools are provided with the skills, tools and support to help
them buy better and obtain the best value for money possible.
- Promoting and supporting more sustainable procurement practices
and effective contract management.
- Coordination of
Services to Schools & Academies Brochure.
- Coordination of the annual return of school's leases for IFRS
accounting purposes.
eProcurement
The majority of schools in North Somerset have been enabled
on the OPEN system (Online
Procurement for Educational
Needs).
From 1 April the DfE are no longer involved in the
project, however the emarkerplace will still be
available to schools until September.
We are engaging with the current provider of the
system to ensure that there will be an alternative system for use
in schools after this date. Further information regarding the
progress of this will be announced in Noticeboard.
Purchase cards
It is now possible for non cheque book schools in North Somerset
to apply for a purchase card that they can use where they are
not able to use traditional means of purchasing. This section
contains information about how to apply and guidance for using the
cards.
Procurement advice
Procurement is important as it helps to ensure that schools
achieve good value for money. There is the possibility for
significant savings in this area which can then be reinvested in to
the school's priorities.
