Advice for young people who deliberately hurt others

Bullying ruins lives. Many people are able and willing to help stop the bullying.

If you think you are involved in hurting people:

  • Tell someone you can trust to help you – either at school, home, or in your community. If that doesn’t help, don’t give up, tell somebody else
  • Remember - no one deserves to be bullied
  • Remember – it’s never too late for it to stop

There are various parts people play in bullying:

  • You may be the leader
  • You may follow the leader and join in the bullying
  • You may be afraid that the leader will turn on you
  • You may encourage the leader, perhaps by smiling or laughing when somebody is hurt
  • You may stay silent and watch from a distance

Remember, if you tell somebody, it could change things for everybody.
