All children allocated a school place within the
district will be usually informed of their transport entitlement by
our School Admissions team.
Primary school pupils who live further than two miles, or
Secondary school pupils who live further than three miles from
their nearest appropriate school by the shortest safe walking route
may be entitled to free transport.
We carefully assess the safety of walking routes using national
guidelines. For families on income-related benefits (including Free
School Meals and the highest level of Working Tax Credit), there
may also be assistance available with transport to any of the three
nearest schools between two and six miles from home.
