School meals are an important part of the school day,
and all food must meet national nutritional standards to ensure a
healthy balanced diet.
Schools in North Somerset have a choice on how they provide
these meals for their pupils. Five secondary, 49 primary and three
special schools have opted for a centrally organised collaborative
contract which we have let on their behalf.
The collaborative contract was advertised under European
tendering arrangements, and the contract was let for the period of
1st April 2007 to 31st March 2012 with Edwards and Ward Ltd.
One secondary school and nine primary schools formed a cluster,
and let their own contract which was awarded to Aspens Catering.
These schools are:

- Churchill Community School
- Churchill Primary School
- Dundry Primary School
- Sandford Primary School
- St Andrews Primary School
- Winford Primary School
- Winscombe Primary School
- Wrington Primary School
Two secondary schools tendered out their own contracts, the
schools and their contractors are as below:
- Gordano Secondary School - Scholarest
- Worle Secondary School - ABM
Two secondary schools and three primary schools have an in house
catering service:
- Ashcombe Primary School
- Mendip Green First School
- Nailsea Secondary School
- Northleaze Primary School
- St Katherine’s Secondary School
